Is summer on its way?

caught up on some much needed sleep last night and woke to find Boris confirmed as Mayor. Oh well. :-/ I was disappointed and a little surprised in the local council elections because more people voted BNP than Green. I can appreciate that many people find immigration a hot topic but voting BNP? Are they really the answer to the immigration issue? Come to think of it, is there really an immigration issue?

Well the weather has been great today, so after an expensive and hard to find brunch in town (god I hate Beckenham with a huge passion) I bought a cheap bottle of red and have sat in the garden with a large glass of it and am topping both it and my tan up. I mean my vitamin D levels. Ahem. Anyway I have no tan to top up and my face is plastered with factor 15 as I'm not supposed to be tanned whilst getting lasered. I'm still in the garden (gotta love wireless) relaxing and taking the odd photo with the camera. The mint, coriander and strawberry plants are coming along but the toms are taking their time, I might see if I can pick up some plants from somewhere as these seedlings just don't want to grow. Photos I've taken will be up on Flickr later, I'm still hoping to find someone to take some pics of me and my new look. Hint hint!

I'm looking forward to the long weekend, then on Tuesday I am in Cambridge (hurrah!) and I have Thursday and Friday off. Haircut on Thursday and shopping for a dress on Friday. Next Sunday I attend my first Lincoln's Inn event, but it's Sunday lunch so I'm hoping it's fairly informal. I hope I don't make an arse of myself.

I bought some shoes yesterday, much as I'd love to own these or these, I really can't afford them. They are not comparable and I feel quite embarrassed to own up to buying New Look shoes, but honey, it's about how you wear it, not what you wear (says the incredibly poor breadwinner trying to convince herself). I'm sure I'll get some second glances and comments when I turn up at the building on Tuesday in a wiggle skirt, seamed stockings and the shoes. Some of them even complimentary!

Talking of second glances, on the way home yesterday I was leered at by some city boys who were getting pissed outside a pub in Covent Garden who then turned a tad vitriolic when they realised I had big holes in my ears. Fuck You, you tiny-penised no-hopers. And thank you to the man who picked up my detachable suspender from the platform at Clock House when it inappropriately de-attached itself from both my girdle and my stocking after I got off the train. Oh the shame. :)

Sitting in the garden on one's own is nice but I do wish I was with a large group of friends catching up on gossip and listening to hustle and bustle or the sea instead of electric lawnmowers and suburbian nothingness. Sigh. Anyway, cheers to a long weekend and a lovely break for all of you!
