PS2 Game recommendations

| | Comments (7)
I've been gifted a PS2.  Now it's a long time since I've had a games console (psp excepted) and I'm out of the loop with PS2 stuff.   There's a huge secondhand market for ps2 games and I want to pick up some classics.  Can anyone give me some recommendations for games I can pick up from ebay or elsewhere?  Don't worry about FIFA/Championship Manager etc etc etc. we're not footie fans.  Racing/strategy/puzzle/fighting games are probably a better bet!

Gran Turismo 4
Grand Theft Auto (any of the recent ones)

Recommend going for one of the DVD/PS2 game rental deals - try before you buy etc.

+1 for Gran Turismo 4, although it's a major time sink
I personally like Lego Racers which is quite challenging and quite silly at the same time
Otherwise, there's loads of cheap games to buy out there, so it's actually quite hard to go wrong.

Have fun with it!

SSX3 is teh game, but extremely difficult to get hold of. SSX On Tour is its sequel and is less good, despite adding skiing.

I like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I also like the Metal Gear Solid series, though it's extremely talky. More like a stylish slightly-manga-esque movie with playable intermissions.

Lego Star Wars seems to be available in a 'complete saga' version, with both 1 (episodes 1 to 3) and 2 (episodes 4 to 6) in one box- are there any other differences?
