Looking back over the year...and looking forward

Well it wasn't a bad one.  Hectic, yes.  Expensive, very.  Overall though, it was pretty good.

We got the inside of the house finished and moved out so we couldn't enjoy its luxuriousness.
My travel time is well over half of what it used to be and I'm paying over two thirds less for the privilege.
Rich gave up work to plunge us into even more debt but seems happier than he has been for the last couple of years.
I finally persuaded my GP to refer me to a PCOS specialist and a usually tight PCT found £600 to pay for treatment that will change my life.

I think the year has been marred by my exhaustion and depression.  I think the commuting took its toll and I knew if I didn't stop I would end up seriously ill or have some sort of breakdown.  The SAD has hit very hard this year so I'm hoping that now the shortest day is out of the way things are going to start getting better and I can start to chip away at my tiredness.

I want 2008 to be a year of organisation and preparation.  I need to get back on the bike and to do some swimming (obviously not at the same time).  Feeling fitter and looking better is a great motivator.  I want to catch up with old friends this year and spend more time with my family.  I need to stop feeling helpless and take some control; to be in charge of my own destiny.  I want to take more photos and continue with the family history.

Made a start on the organisation last night: I'd briefly looked at Delicious.Library before and thought it was good, but after a chat with Kim yesterday I decided to have a second go.  I went home, downloaded and paid for the software then catalogued my CD's and started on the books with a view to working out which ones we could sell.  It's bloody brilliant.  If you want to do any CD cataloguing it's invaluable.  You need a webcam if you want to do any barcode scanning but sometimes just typing in the barcode number is as quick.  Anyway it's 20-ish quid and not developed by some software behemoth.

Christmas was good, as was New Year.  Both were quiet.  I fell in love with a Playstation 3 and cursed the fact I have no money to buy such frivolities.

Hey Claire!

Nice one on the laser treatment. I'm glad to hear that's happening for you.

Hope you have a great 2008, and here's hoping we can catch up with you two.

Rhys
